Known popularly as the vampire facial, PRP (platelet rich plasma) therapy takes a patient’s own blood and spins it in a centrifuge to separate out its components. From there, the platelet rich plasma component is treated with a small amount of calcium to increase the healing process. The PRP is injected into the problem areas of the face to cause inflammation, which stimulates the skin’s healing process. The platelets release enzymes to initiate healing to cause new collagen to develop. The collagen will tighten and strengthen the treatment area for improved skin. How it Works
Originally used in orthopedic medicine, reconstructive surgery, and dentistry, the principles of PRP therapy have been applied in dermatology for skin rejuvenation. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient and then spun in a special centrifuge until the platelets and growth factors are concentrated, which turns it into platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Expected Results
